For this theme I always knew what I wanted to photograph, it was just a case of waiting for the right time of year. These pictures are from the pet cemetery in Northumberland park in Tynemouth. This is the largest pet cemetery I’ve come across and there are gravestones from dogs killed serving in the war as well as one from a deer “Bambi” erected by the RSPCA. The cemetery is covered in snowdrops at this time of year, so it was a perfect time to photograph it. I am not totally happy with the composition but they are my favourite graveyard pictures so far…..so here they are.
There are several documented graves from known dogs serving in the war plus this mystery stone mentioning this animal rescued from the Normandy beaches.

What a great place, giving a final resting place for the 4-legged soldiers. Nice shots.

Love the snowdrops and the aged mossy look of the headstones.

How pretty to have these growing in amongst the tombstones. Nice offset to the aged tone of the stones.

What an interesting site — in that it dates back to WWII! The snowdrops add a wistful touch to the heartfelt gravestone tributes. Very nice picture.
